Internships in Michigan

Hello,

Intern in Michigan is a free web-based system that offers a simple solution for students who are looking for internships and co-ops in Michigan. By using matching algorithms, Intern in Michigan instantly connects students with internship opportunities based on skills, interests and employer needs. This short video explains how the technology works.

Born out of the desire to address the disconnect between students and employers about the perceived lack of opportunities and talent interested in starting their careers in Michigan; Intern in Michigan has facilitated over 200,000 matches between students and employers of which 10,000 progressed to the interview stage.

We are thrilled to be working with numerous employers across the state who are recruiting students seeking internships and co-ops.  Thousands of employers including; Otsego Conservation District, HOMTV, Auto-Owners Insurance Company, Allied THA, American Laser Enterprises, and DTE have posted opportunities on Intern in Michigan. These employers are interested in students with a wide variety of academic majors and interests such as engineering, computer science, business and finance, nonprofit management, television production and natural resources and conservation to name a few.

In addition to preparing students for life after graduation, research had demonstrated that internships positively impact college retention, persistence, and GPA’s.

Given that February is Cooperative Education and Internship Month in Michigan. I wanted to share Intern in Michigan as a resource in hopes that you will encourage your students to register and get connected with meaningful experiential learning opportunities.

Students who are interested in connecting with employers can get started by going to www.interninmichigan.com

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Sincerely,

Regina

2014-2015 applicant pool facts

We are still receiving application materials until April 1.  However, I have gone into GAMS and starting a preliminary review of applicants.  So far, 97 people are in some stage of application. There are 76 Chinese applicants, 4 Koreans, 2 from other countries than China or Korea, and 17 domestic students.  We hope to bring in a class of about 10 to 12 new students.  Thought you might be interested in this information.
